Want to talk about writing?

On #writingchat tonight we're discussing what stops us writing and how to get over it.

#writingchat is a weekly twitter event, with a different topic each time.  It's on Wednesdays, 8-9pm UK time. Everyone with an interest in writing is welcome to join in.

Please remember to use the #writingchat hashtag, so we can find your tweets and respond.

Thank you so much for this site! I've just started writing short stories and am about to submit my first one to a woman's magazine. I'm look forward to the fiction writing hashtag tomorrow night on Twitter. Sorry to ask you this but I have a general question that I can't seem to find the answer to on Google. When I send off my short story, should I include a cover letter, or just the flysheet with the information they request? Thank you for any help you can give me x

Hi Anonymous,

Unless the quidelines say otherwise, it's fine to send either a covering letter, or a fly sheet giving your contact details and any other requested information. You don't need both.

It's a good idea to include your name as a header or footer too, just in case the letter or fly sheet get seperated from the story.
